Fiat Doblo

Fiat introduced the New Doblò, the "Active Family Space" designed to satisfy the needs of modern, dynamic families, ideal for use seven days a week, for work or for leisure, with no limits of space or use.

The new vehicle is the fourth generation of a model of which over one million four hundred thousand (car and commercial vehicle versions in total) have been registered since it was first launched in 2000 and which was renewed in 2005 and in 2010. Its winning design has been cleverly developed over the years to provide answers to today's new mobility, comfort and eco-friendliness needs.

The New Doblò has been entirely redesigned inside and out to express dynamism and personality through more distinctive shapes and styles. Innovative user-friendly contents have been added to the technological equipment package to make the experience of travelling in the New Doblò always great. The most interesting are the Uconnect multimedia system with 5" colour touchscreen which may be provided with optional integrated navigation system and digital radio (DAB).

In brief, it is perfect for travelling, spending time with friends and a great partner for leisure activities. For all passions and destinations of use, the New Doblò brings one of the model's undisputed strengths: its highly modular interior space. It has up to seven seats, a large 790 litre boot (at the top of its class), plenty of storage compartments and a 60/40 split rear seat.

What is more, the New Doblò with Bi-link suspension has the best handling in its class and the highest wellbeing onboard as confirmed by a very bright passenger compartment, excellent climate control and world-class soundproofing. This comfortable, functional environment can count on an array of top-in-class safety features, like the standard front air bags, ESP system and Hill Holder function.

The New Doblò boasts one of the most complete and well structured engine line-ups in its category with no fewer than seven petrol, diesel and methane engines and power spanning from 90 to 135 hp. Marketed in 29 countries across the EMEA area, the New Doblò has three trim levels (Pop, Easy and Lounge), two roof heights, two wheelbases, 11 body colours (like the new Colosseo Grey), five interior environments and two seat types (five seats standard, seven seats optional). Furthermore, the New Doblò can count on a full range of services and accessories made in collaboration with Mopar®, in addition to the advantageous financial solutions created by FCA Bank.

Like the previous generations, the Nuovo Doblò is manufactured in Turkey in the Tofaş plant in Bursa, one of the best automotive industrial sites in the world, as confirmed by the award of a World Class Manufacturing gold medal.


The all-new design inside and out is reasserted from the very start from the distinctive, modern front end, sporting new bumpers and a streamline bonnet that follows the curve of the roof. Novel are also the front and rear light clusters, with a harmonious, elegant style which underlines the horizontal lines of the vehicle. They are conveniently arranged in a higher position to protect them from small knocks.

From the side, the New Doblò is characterised from the lines running along the entire side which reassert the vehicle's dynamic, streamline look. The seamless line running along the lower part, from the front to the rear wheel arch, passing through the rubbing strips, convey an idea of fluidity. Particular striking are large glazed surfaces and handy sliding doors which make getting in and out even easier.

The wing mirrors with incorporated direction indicators contribute to the clean style of the sides. The large-sized mirrors ensure excellent visibility, while the new 16" alloy rims or the new wheel caps stand out when seen from the side. Finally, the tailgate sports a new badge holder in matching body colour.

New Doblò customers can pick from 11 body colours, including the brand-new Colosseo Grey, which further enhance the harmonious shapes of the vehicle and convey an elegantly distinctive look.

The interiors have also been restyled to enhance functionality and offer a wide range of customisations and combinations of colours, materials and upholstery. One of the most important innovations is the ergonomic dashboard which, according to the versions, has a contrasting colour band matching the seat and door panel upholstery.

More in detail, the Pop version is characterised by grey fabric and dashboard, while the passenger compartment of the New Doblò Easy can be either red or grey, as required (the dashboard is grey in both cases). Finally, the Lounge trim level has two combinations: grey dashboard and fabric or beige dashboard and fabric.

New are also the ergonomic steering wheel and the instrument panel with pleasantly clear graphics to display all useful driving information at a glance. Furthermore, the Start & Stop, ASR and methane fuel buttons (where fitted) are now easier to reach.

Versatility and wellbeing on-board

The New Doblò is at the top in its class for interior space modularity, as demonstrated by the passenger seat which can be folded down to make a desk (optional) and the second and third row seats (in seven seat configurations) which may be easily reclined and folded by using handy, ergonomic levers. Furthermore, the third row in the seven seat version can be entirely removed to make the space large and exploitable entirely in length. The New Doblò counts no fewer than 30 seat configurations in total.

Not to mention the sizeable boot, which is one of the largest in its class spanning from 790 litres for short wheelbase versions (measured to the rear window shelf) to 1050 litres for long wheelbase versions. Remarkably, the volume increases to 3200 litres and 4000 litres, respectively, by folding the rear seats: record-breaking values. The outstanding flexibility of the New Doblò is confirmed by the possibility of arranging the rigid rear window shelf (astonishingly capable of carrying no less than 70 kg) at various levels.

Travelling on the New Doblò, with its airy ambience, pleasant surfaces, comfortable enveloping seats and large glazed surfaces, is always an exciting experience. Furthermore, the raised driving position and the ergonomic controls make the space particularly pleasant to dominate.

Climate inside the passenger compartment is one of the most important comfort factors on the road and is also important for preventive safety: temperature, humidity and ventilation influence the driver's wellbeing and attention level. This is why the New Doblò fits a climate control system - either automatic or manual, according to the versions - with novel, elegantly designed, large front vents and direct diffusion in the rear of the vehicle.

All this is complemented by plenty of handy storage compartments, which are more capacious than ever, like the soft opening front box, in which a 10" tablet can be stored, or the very useful "capucine" compartment on the roof over the windscreen. In short, the New Doblò truly is packed with intelligent solutions for interior space use to satisfy the needs of who will pick the vehicle to enjoy with family and friends.

Finally, for stress-free driving it is important to be able to count on a soundproofed passenger compartment in which listening to music or simply chatting is pleasant. This is why new soundproofing materials have been used on the New Doblò to improve the average articulation index by 5% (on diesel versions), which is equivalent to 3dB.

Safety and dynamic behaviour

In relation to safety, the New Doblò brings the most advanced electronic stability control systems, including ABS with EBD electronic braking correction system, ESC complete with ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) and Hill-Holder to assist with hill starts. The safety-related equipment of the new range is completed by front and front side air bags (side bags providing head and torso protection are available on demand), and the tyre inflation pressure monitoring system.

The New Doblò is in the top of its class with regards to dynamic behaviour, driveability and driving satisfaction. Merit for this goes also to the Bi-link rear suspension - an exclusive for the model - which forms an independent wheel layout, with anti-roll bar, dual setting rear shock absorbers (in extension and rebound for top-notch handling, comfort, rolling and stability) and high-performance springs to better absorb stress on all roads.

Driving pleasure is also guaranteed by improved gearbox manoeuvrability achieved by implementing various technical solutions to make the stick lighter and provide more shifting accuracy. Furthermore, the interaction between available torque and action on the pedal has been improved: the advantage for customers is obvious particularly in normal conditions of use at low speeds and in cities.

Engines and gearboxes

The new model has one of the largest engine line-ups in its class. All engines are reliable, high-performing and eco-friendly. Two petrol engines (1.4 litre 95 hp and 1.4 T-JET 120 hp) and three turbo diesels (1.6 MultiJet 90 hp, also with Dualogic robotised gearbox, 1.6 MultiJet 105 hp and 2.0 MultiJet 135 hp) will be available at launch.

Importantly, the diesel engines are from the second generation MultiJet family, a byword for technology, performance and economy. Furthermore, the Eco Pack on 1.6 Multijet 105 hp slashes fuel consumption and emissions by up to 15% and makes the New Doblò particularly competitive on markets such as France, Switzerland and Austria, where eco-friendly choices are rewarded by law.

The offering is completed by the 1.4 T-JET 120 hp Natural Power bi-fuel (petrol/natural gas) engine, with performance comparable to the petrol version plus all the economic and environmental advantages of natural gas fuel. In particular, Fiat Doblò was one of the pioneers in bi-fuel technology, and this is one of the most popular choices for customers: Doblò Natural Power amounted for 35% of all sales of the model in Italy in 2014.

Not by chance, the engine is still the best in its class for power (with its 120 hp), total range (625 kilometres), fuel efficiency (4.9 km/litre) and emissions (134 grams of CO2 per kilometre). All this without compromising the useable volume of the boot is unchanged because the methane cylinders are arranged under the floor (they have a total capacity of 95 litres, equal to 16.15 kg of natural gas).


On the infotainment front, the New Doblò offers two content levels according to trim level, both of which are sure to guarantee an exciting musical experience. The first system has an active matrix display, FM/AM radio, USB media player/iPod connection, AUX-In port, automatically adjusting volume according to speed, Bluetooth technology (without voice recognition) and controls on the steering wheel (the latter optional).

The New Doblò also comes with the popular UConnect 5" multimedia system already fitted on many Fiat vehicles. More in detail, the high-tech device is based on a 5" colour touchscreen, one of the largest of the segment, for accessing the main functions, which include analogue and digital radio (the latter optional) and multimedia resources (Media Player, iPod, iPhone, smartphone) which can be connected by USB port and AUX-IN connector.

The system also includes an advanced Bluetooth interface to access extra functions, such as phone call management or reading received SMS text messages via text-to-speech technology, innovative Audio Streaming system that reproduces music files and web radio stations directly from a smartphone in streaming via Bluetooth on the UConnect device.

UConnect 5" comes with steering wheel controls and Eco:Drive software to assist the driver in limiting fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
